Triggers Facebook Page

I've just created a new Facebook page for Triggers Photography where I will start to host a selection of photos from each shoot. It's designed to be a free value added service for my clients so that they can keep a virtual copy of their favourite photos and easily share it with their friends and family. It also has the added advantage that friends can leave comments on the album or on specific photographs so that it becomes another record of the day - particularly good for weddings, parties, christenings or family portraits!

Of course, the other benefit is that by clicking the 'like' button below you'll be able to keep tabs on me and continue to see some lovely photography within your Facebook feed!

Tom, Kirsty & Stanley

I popped round to see my friends Tom and Kirsty yesterday to see their newborn, Stanley. Even though it was a social visit I couldn't resist taking my camera along to nab a few shots of them all with the new baby. Stanley clearly stole the show!

David & Alicia's Golden Wedding Anniversary

Remarkably, it was my parent's Golden Wedding Anniversary on 6th June. 50 years of marriage is a magnificent achievement in anyone's book but Mum and Dad seem to have taken it completely in their stride!

The anniversary itself was a very happy occasion with 130 guests joining in the celebrations in Canterbury, Kent. Highlights included a performance of Panis Angelicus by two of their grandchildren Joseph and Natasha (no mean feat!) and a humorous take on the gameshow 'Mr & Mrs' which I hosted!

Anyhow, here are the photos from the day itself which I took, apart from when I was performing on stage (thanks Jacob)! For best viewing results, click on the menu icon in bottom left corner of the slideshow and select full screen.

If you're looking for a professional photographer to capture a special occasion similar to this, whether that's a landmark anniversary, a party, a gala evening or a corporate event, then do get in touch. I'm also open to any offers to be a gameshow host ;-)

Alice & Melly's wedding

There were three things about Alice and Melly's wedding which were different to all the other weddings I've done before...
  1. I worked with Motiejus, my new assistant photographer, who turned out to be fabulous. Not only was he extremely helpful on the day but he also has the necessary sensitivity to take some beautiful photographs. It's actually harder than you think to find an assistant photographer who not only has the right temperament but also a style of photography which complements my own.
  2. I've been experimenting with a new retouching technique which makes the photograph look more vintage. It's something I've been wanting to do for some time but it was only when Motiejus suppplied some of his images like this that I felt I had to learn how to do it myself! So you'll see a mix of images here some with the effect and some without.
  3. I was violently sick at the reception! Not because I'd been knocking back the champagne I hasten to add but because I ate one of the oysters and paid the price! Fortunately, it was towards the end of the night so no harm done but if it ever happens again at least I know Motiejus would be able to cover for me.
Apart from that slight 'hiccup' it was a fabulous wedding. Alice and Melly were both great and totally relaxed on the day. And the sun shined all day.

You can view a small selection here or the full collection on slideshare at the foot of the post.

Full slideshow below. For best results click the bottom right button inviting you to view on slideshare as you can then view photos on full screen.

Amberley Castle, West Sussex

Amberley Castle is a magnificent historical treasure tucked away near the picturesque village of Amberley in the chalk South Downs, West Sussex. I stayed there overnight recently for a special treat with my wife, Alexie. It was only when I checked in that it dawned on me I'd actually been here before to video a wedding many moons ago!

Anyhow, here are a few photos I took to give you a taste of what it's like. As we were leaving another guest arrived...in helicopter no less! Oh how the other half live.

Alexie and I hailing a cab outside. "Taxi!"

Ca'Segredo Hotel, Venice

During my recent trip to Venice I was keen to stay at a traditional Venetian hotel to soak up the true ambience of this beautiful city. Whilst doing my research I stumbled across this hidden gem, the Ca'Segredo Hotel. It's absolutely stunning with authentic Venetian interior design, fresco paintings and opulent Italian style in abundance. It boasts an enviable setting overlooking the Grand Canal and sits in a plum position in one of the most panoramic corners Venice, facing the Historical Market, between Ca’ D’Oro and Rialto Bridge. I really can't recommend this place highly enough.

Accommodation in Venice isn't cheap but if there's one place you want to push the boat out, surely it has to be in Venice!

Venice, Italy

I've always wanted to go to Venice, not just because it's such a romantic city, but also because it's meant to be such a beautiful place to photograph. I was only there a few days but it certainly lived up to expectations - I was literally blown away by how picturesque it was.
